Ceramic Sea Urchins
Inspired by sea urchin shells, each piece in this one-of-a-kind collection is handbuilt and hand-decorated from my original design, ensuring its uniqueness.
This work is meant to be held and experienced. Each piece is crafted to evoke the gentle sound of tiny pebbles, as if a secret from the sea floor is enclosed within. They are one of a kind, unique not only in design but also in the delicate sound they suggest.
The sea urchin, a resilient ocean inhabitant for hundreds of millions of years, is now facing a severe crisis. Since early 2022, an epidemic has devastated sea urchin populations across the Caribbean, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean, threatening coral reef ecosystems worldwide.
Often called the ‘gardeners’ of the reefs, sea urchins control algae growth, allowing coral to thrive. Their decline endangers these vital ecosystems.
